League is held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and runs for 12 weeks. The league utilizes NFAA blue and white 5-spot or single-spot targets (your choice) and allows shooting 60 arrows from 20 yards, for a total of 300 points. Four person teams can sign up at the informational meeting. A handicap system will allow individuals of all shooting abilities to compete.

League Rules

  1. The winter archery league will run for 12 consecutive weeks, starting the 1st week in January and ending in late March or early April. League nights are Wednesday or Thursday. Archers are allowed to shoot prior to the above league nights, or after the league nights but no later than Friday night. Those shooting at times other than Wednesday & Thursday will be penalized 5 points per game.
  2. All participants must be paid Club Members. Membership runs from January 1 through December 31st.
  3. League cost is $50, plus membership fees as applicable, per participant. Junior shooters (still in high school) fee is $25. At least ½ of league fee, and membership fee, must be paid on, or before the first night of shooting, and the balance in full by the 4th week of shooting.
  4. Each team will consist of four archers. Each team is designated a team number. A posted schedule will indicate teams competing each night. The team you compete against may, or may not, be shooting at the same time as your team. Team wins, losses, or ties, will be posted, as well as archer averages.
  5. Handicap is figured at 85% of difference between team's average and 400, per game, rounded to the nearest whole number. Team scores for a game, plus handicap, can exceed 400 points per game.
  6. If an archer is going to be absent from a league night, he/she will be allowed to: (A) Shoot at a different time prior to league night, or until midnight on Friday following league night (a 5 point per game penalty will be assessed); OR (B) designate that the scores of this night are to count for this night and also for the following league night, provided he/she lets the league secretary know before league shooting begins by writing the word "DUPLICATE" on the top of the score sheet next to his/her name. (No additional score sheet is needed) He/she is allowed to shoot the next week if available, and actual score will be used; OR (C) If he/she does not pre-shoot, or use a duplicate score, his/her score will be average minus 5 points per game. Note: "duplicates" are used forward, not backwards, and are good for only one night. In case of equipment failure, mark score sheet accordingly and "duplicate".
  7. The average for archers will be established after the first two nights of league shooting, and thereafter will be based on the average of the last three nights of actual league shooting.
  8. If a team is short a member, the "Phantom" member's score for the night will be league average per game.
  9. Score sheets must be filled out properly, with team number, date and added down. And must be left in appropriate location. There should be ONE score sheet per TEAM.
  10. A team win, loss, or tie, will be recorded for each game and on three-game total points.
  11. If there are an odd number of teams in the league, the team shooting the 'phantom' team must beat their own average in order to win the game.
  12. The league will be considered as two 6-week halves. Therefore there will be a winner of the first half and a winner for the second half. If two different teams are winners, then there will be a shoot-off for the final winner. In the shoot-off, first half winners must use first half, or second half, average, whichever is higher. The shoot-off will generally be the week following the end of the league; time to be agreed upon between the two competing teams. Both teams shoot at the same time, but in a manner similar to any other league night.
  13. In case a league night is snowed out, team captains will be notified. The schedule remains in tact, and the missed week will be shot at the end of the league period.
  14. It is each archer's responsibility to assure that no one crosses the firing line while someone is still shooting. Once the 'all clear' sounds, the members may proceed to score and retrieve their arrows. It is each team's responsibility to put up their own targets.
  15. For purposes of calculating an archer's average, a score of a night's series will be limited to not more than 50 points below average (for the 3 games).
  16. Cost of trophies, banquet, etc. shall not exceed $5.00 per league member. Awards will be decided on a year-to-year basis.
  17. We do not use 'substitute" shooters on teams.
  18. Please note: League members and non-league members are allowed to practice any time at the club, as long as they are not interfering with other club activities. All are obligated, and expected, to pay open shooting fees. This payment is to be paid in the designated money-drop prior to shooting. It is expected that used targets be used for practice shooting.
  19. At the beginning of the league period, a position on a team, or in the league, will be held open not more than three weeks. Thereafter, someone else can be put into the inactive position.
  20. It is the desire of the Board of Directors that a designated person, or persons, be assigned the responsibility of handling the bar each night of archery. With, or without, a 'bartender' all members are expected to pay for products consumed by them.
  21. Single or five-spot targets are available for shooting. Single targets score from "5" through "1", whereas a five-spot target is scored a "5" or "4", or a "zero".
  22. Youth bows & arrows are in the closet for use by young learning archers. They are not to be used, or abused, by junior or adult archers.
  23. Clarification: Archers are allowed to practice shoot prior to scoring. BUT once they start scoring, all of the next 60 arrows must be counted. There is to be NO "pick & choose" of arrow hits!
