Youth Archery 2012
The Oregon Sportsman's Club is hosting another year of youth archery. Kids and adults can have a lot of fun with the sport of archery, regardless of competitive performance. Our organization teach archers the safety precautions needed to enjoy the sport for years to come.
The program will begin in January and run through early-March. Youth archers will learn basic shooting techniques, range safety, play archery games, and learn archery can develop into a lifetime sport. Instructors enjoy seeing how much the kids improve in such a short time. Please contact at (608) 835-7345 with any questions.

The club provides archery equipment; however, individuals are encouraged to bring their own equipment if they have it. The youth program acquired 9 new bows in the 2007 archery season. The Oregon Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited donated seven of the new bows, in addition to $100 toward the purchase of arrows. The club would like to extend a big "THANK YOU!" to Whitetails Unlimited for their generous donation.
All personal equipment should be labeled with the owner's name. It is also strongly recommended that all equipment be properly sized and in safe working condition. If an individual has difficulty pulling the bow back, this can be unsafe as well as discouraging. All youth participants must be accompanied by an adult who will remain on the premises. Cost is $5 per child/session.
The children who attend 6 or more of the classes (excluding the last day) receive a t-shirt for participating.

2011 Youth Archery in Review
The Oregon Sportsmen Club ran their 10-week Archery Instruction program for 2011 season this past January-March. The program is designed to assist youth and adults in learning the proper safety and shooting fundamentals of archery. The OSC archery program has helped many clubs such as the 4-H Club and Cub Scouts. The children that participated are from Oregon and surrounding areas. The program had 189 participants this year.
On the average, there were 55-65 kids on any given weekend. The kids are given the opportunity to shoot a variety of targets, such as spots, animals and balloons. At the end, the children who attended 6 or more of the classes (excluding the last day) received a t-shirt for participating. The Archery Program would like to thank all the other members of the club for their help with organizing and running the program. They would also like to give a big thanks to Jim Venden of Venden’s Magnum Archery for allowing the kids to shoot the video archery. A special call out to: Diane Jensen, Brian McGuigan, Theresa Schnabel, Steve "Slim" Wagner, Marty Witt, and Todd Weis for helping me this year.
Thank you,
Jim Lynch
Youth Archery Director
