Skeet
Skeet is a shotgun sport involving shooting at clay targets thrown from a "high house" on the left and a "low house" on the right. The shooter moves to eight different points or stations on the field so the shooting angles at the clay targets are different. At some stations the shooter will shoot "doubles."
The game of skeet is mostly a close range type of game. The longest shot you have is where you are perpendicular to the field at station 4. Here the distance is about 30 yards. Skeet also involves a lot of movement on the part of the shooter in terms of follow through. The targets cross in front of you for the most part and when you are shooting you need to swing the gun and develop a lead. Once you stop the gun you lose all of your lead. So, movement is very important.
The Oregon Sportsman Club shotgun shooting is strictly regulated by a Conditional Use Permit Issued by Dane County. The open Saturday shooting may be held on scheduled Saturdays and ONLY from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. From May through August, a member will usually be assigned to assist with shooting on these scheduled Saturdays. Saturday open trap/skeet shooting times are not always staffed. If you are unsure how to operate the trap houses, please contact to ensure someone will be at the club to assist you. 835-5791 (work) 835-3496 (home) or 835-3114 (at clubhouse)
