Trapshooting is a shooting sport enjoyed by millions of people around the world. It involves shooting clay targets (referred to as "birds" or "pigeons") traveling at speeds of up to 90 mph with a 12-gauge shotgun. It is a very challenging sport that easy to learn, but very hard to master. Many of the top shooters in the world have been competing for 20, 30, 40 and even 50 years! That is one of the best aspects of the sport. Age really does not matter! I have seen 14 year olds beat the pants off of a hot shot 30 something shooter, and 10-20 of the top shooters in the United States are over 60 years of age.

Trap is a shotgun sport involving shooting at clay targets thrown from a bunker or house whose top is at ground level in front of the shooter.

The Oregon Sportsman Club shotgun shooting is strictly regulated by a Conditional Use Permit Issued by Dane County. The open Saturday shooting may be held on scheduled Saturdays and ONLY from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. From May through August, a member will usually be assigned to assist with shooting on these scheduled Saturdays.

* Saturday open trap/skeet shooting times are not always staffed. If you are unsure how to operate the trap houses, please contact to ensure someone will be at the club to assist you. 835-5791 (work) 835-3496 (home) or 835-3114 (at clubhouse)
